Is the spiritual defiance of what is

In the name of what ought to be                   

It visualises an alternative future

To the one fated by the momentum

Of current contradictory forces

Prophetic imagination

Breathes the fresh air

Of a time yet to be

Into the suffocating atmosphere

Of present reality

It is the unrelenting commitment

To a new inevitability

Anchored on God’s promised intervention

Prophetic imagination

Is the rejection of the old world

Dominated by the powers of evil

Reflected in regime of hatred, injustice, violence and war

In favour of a new world

Overwhelmed by the forces of good

Characterised by the civilization of love, justice and peace

Amidst widespread debauchery

Multiple tragedies

Despondency

Discouragement

And despair

Prophetic imagination is pregnant with hope

For long-standing victims of injustice

It energises the remnant few

Who hunger for righteousness

With the luminous visitation of dawn

Announcing the birth of a new day.
